It’s just November now but we couldn’t wait until christmas to try the new christmas edition from Big Peat. As always this blended malt contains whisky from Ardbeg, Bowmore, Caol Ila and even the legendary Port Ellen. The proportions is something we can only guess. This cracker is also bottled at cask strength, 54,9% ABV and still without added colours and chill-filtration.
Peaty with a touch of cinnamon and ginger together with sweet hints of pears and lemons. Medicinal.
Powerful peaty palate with some leather and even tobacco. A bit ashy and salty with hints of sweet fruits.
Long, warm and peaty with salt and ashes. Even a bit medicinal with a light sweet touch.
As the label says – Big Peat at cask strength. Yet another success from Douglas Laing. This is a warming dram that really fits at your christmas table after your dinner.(Even alone at evening) With a great mixture of peat, salt and sweetness, Big Peat delivers a great dram that’s suitable, not just over christmas but all year. We gives this Big Peat Christmas Edition 2013, 89 points.
